Overview of Hostel

Hostelling International Boston opened the doors to our new location in downtown in June 2012. Centrally located, we have easy access public transit, although we are an easy 10-15 minute walk to just about anything you would want to see downtown Boston!

We are located at 19 Stuart St. Our hostel is on Stuart St. between Washington St. and Tremont St. (Look for the big orange H!)

By subway from South Station:
Take the Red Line in the direction of Alewife. At Park St., change to the Green Line. Take the Green Line outbound (Westbound) for one stop to Boylston. Exit the station and walk down Tremont St. in the direction of traffic. Take a left on Stuart St. Our hostel is a half-block ahead on the left at #19 Stuart St.

On foot from South Station:
Our hostel is about a 10 minute walk from South Station.

(Please note: The Silver Line 1 from the airport terminates at South Station. Additionally, the Bus Terminal and Train Terminal are in two separate but adjacent buildings.)

Take a left out the station exit and walk for two blocks down Atlantic Ave (opposite direction of traffic). Take a right on Kneeland St. Walk straight for four blocks. Kneeland St will turn into Stuart St. Our hostel will be on the right at #19 Stuart St.


A taxi from the airport should cost around $30.

A taxi from South Station will cost around $5.

The subway costs $2.65 per ride (you do not have to pay when transferring between subway lines)..

HI Boston is located in the Chinatown/Theatre District area, which includes some of the best entertainment the city has to offer. After stepping out the door, in a few short minutes you can walk to Boston Common and the Public Garden before heading to check out the brownstones and shopping Newbury Street. Or head on over to the Freedom Trail and learn about the many famous sites from the American Revolution. Stop off for a bite and some free entertainment in Quincy Market!

Check-in: 16:00 Check-out: 11:00 HI Boston provides accommodations to travelers who live a minimum of 30 miles from the hostel. HI Boston is a membership organization. Non-members will be charged an additional Daily Membership fee of $3 per night. This amount will be added upon arrival as needed. If you wish to purchase a membership, please contact the Front Desk. There is a 14-night maximum stay per guest per calendar year. Please note that guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. All guests must present a valid government-issued photo ID upon check-in. NOTE: We do not accept online group bookings of 8 or more people and you must contact the hostel directly if you want to make a booking for a group, as supplemental group reservation policies and prices will apply. If you decide to make a booking for your group anyway through individual bookings we retain the right to cancel your booking without a refund of your deposit. groups.boston@hiusa.org Cancellations may be made by phone at no charge up to 23:59 Eastern time the night before arrival. Cancellations after then will be charged for the first night's stay. Payment is due upon arrival by cash (USD), credit card or debit card. Advertised rates do not include 14.45% city and state taxes. These will be added to your balance upon arrival.
